Great Ocean Road

We finally struck for the Great Ocean Road this weekend, we've been avoiding it during the school hols but it was just stunning to get out now that the kids are all back at school. Some amazing places and stunning scenery, definitely worth the drive, just an amazing route.

Our first stop was in the Otway ranges. A range of mountains covered in temperate rainforest where there is a great walk and treetop walkway. The trees are amazing and the wildlife you can get up close to is pretty stunning.

The tree ferns are pretty spectacular.

Theres also a great opportunity to get up to the tree tops with a tower.

Rich down in the trees on the fabulous aerial walkways.

Rich with the aptly named, boomerang tree.

So when we'd had enough of the fabulous rainforest, we headed out onto the Great Ocean Road... to see our first....
Wild Koala ! isn't he just great !
You can just see him up in the branches here. He was well asleep and just at the side of the road.

We checked out the beaches and the great coastline.

And in true Aussie fashion had a pic nic, complete with our own mini Esky

If you've ever seen 'Round the Twist' (which was a kids TV programme from Aus that was on the BBC with a guy and his 2 kids that lived in a lighthouse) this is the Lighthouse from that programme.

Some claim to fame eh !
