ur South Australia Trip Feb 2010

In Feb we went on a big road trip from Victoria all the way over to Adelaide and back.

So here we are on day 1 in Lorne and ready for the off
Koala's in the wild, on day 2, we could see them sitting in the trees on the side of the road.
Rich enjoying the great ocean road.

Port Fairy for beers

...and stunning sunsets after a few beers.
Another of the great formations on the side of the road, the grotto, formed from the sea washing away soft areas of rock.
Tower hill was a great stop off just before the border. Its the perfect spot for all native wildlife spotting. We got the bingo with Kangaroo, Emu, Koala and Echidna.

Mount Gambier, home to volcanic caves, sinkholes and stunning lakes. This is the sinkhole, converted into beautiful gardens.
Mount Gambier's famous blue lake.. not photoshopped I promise ! particles in the water in the sunshine make it look this colour. Just stunning.
Robe, over the border, with stunning beaches and home to rock lobster.
Rich with his rock lobster friends... little do they know all he wants to do is eat them.
Of course, never one to be outdone, here's Heidi with a much bigger lobster (probably shouldn't eat this one though).

Further up the coast towards Adelaide, there is a large wilderness called the Coorong. This area is an Aboriginal heritage area. The two grey blobs in the middle of this water are clear evidence that the Loch Ness monster exists and in Australia !!! Actually its a mother Emu and 2 babies, cute ? no huge and ugly !

An aboriginal midden site, a large area where feasting and gatherings would have taken place.

The 90 mile beach, it goes on for ever
From the Coorong, it was on to Adelaide.

The Adelaide hills botanic gardens, hot, stuffy, lots of trees
Glenelg, is the site of the first landing in South Australia. Now its a gorgeous little seaside town lovely beach.
